Christmas

We had Christmas with the girls at our house this year.  We didn't have a tree or the money to buy a tree right now, so thankfully Pauline (Court's mom) let us put up her tree.  The girls put the ornaments on, and of course they could only reach so high, plus they didn't seem to understand the concept of spreading the ornaments out.  Well, after they finished, I did a little editing so that there were ornaments at the top of the tree and so there weren't 6 ornaments in the same spot.  The tree was still one sided because no ornaments made it around the back, but it looked fine from the front and the girls had fun.

Court and I went to my Grandma Russel's house in Provo for Christmas Eve.  The girls were in Provo with their mom, and we were getting them after they were done.  We got them about 11pm and Hannah was asleep before we got to the freeway.  Sydney also fell asleep before we got home (about midnight).  When we got home, the girls went right into their beds and Court and I stayed up to put together the stockings.  Court went to bed about 1am, but I stayed up to finish the dishes and to wrap Court's presents.  I crawled into bed about 3am.

We were up at 6am to start breakfast because Corissa (the girls' mom) and Darren (stepdad) were coming at 7.  We actually had to wake the girls up when Corissa got here.  Santa was good to the girls this year: Sydney got a Sydney Lee doll and the movie "Labyrinth."  Hannah got a Haley doll and the Littlest Pet Shop elephant.  Because of various reasons, Sydney is on the verge of not believing in Santa Claus, but Hannah's elephant was magical to her, so she thinks that he must exist.  You cannot buy the elephant in stores; you have to send in these stickers you collect from Littlest Pet Shop items to get it.  Sydney knows that we never got enough stickers together to get it.  The girls got lots of other gifts that they have been playing with constantly for the last three days.

The dogs got a doggy door, which they love.  Now they can come and go as they please.  They each got some type of cow joint, which they gnawed on the rest of the day.  They also got some dog shampoo and a BATH, so they smell much better.

The girls got Court a Wii Rabbid remote charger and a new Rabbid Wii game.  I got him the electric shaver that he's been asking for.  The girls got me a new comforter bed set and Court got me a Bissel carpet cleaner.

The carpet cleaner is a funny story.  Court got it the Friday before Christmas while I was at work (I work swings now: 4 to midnight).  He called me and told me he was going to use my Christmas present.  I told him that Christmas presents should be new and unused, but he said that this one would be a better present if it was used.  The next day Court kept teasing me because he said there was something "glaring" in the house that would tell me what my gift was.  He had cleaned the carpet in the front room.  I was clueless.  Then, a few days before Christmas, he used it again.  This time he cleaned our bedroom carpet.  When I went to bed that night, I noticed that the carpet was damp.  It finally came together, and I figured it out.  Well, when he cleaned our room, he found a defect on the carpet cleaner.  He exchanged it for a new one, so I got my wish of receiving a new, unused gift after all.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!
